I am so very disappointed in this book. I was so anxious for this book to come out, the last three books left me wanting more.****Spoiler**** The fact that this book ended with everyone and their happily ever after at the same damn time infuriates me. Everyone marries within a week of each other and ends up pregnant at the same time. Its just to much at once, I would have liked to read more from Lia and Shane have him open up to her. Rachel and Adriane's relationship was so dragged out that I skipped some pages so I wouldnt continue to read all the debating in their head. I wanted so much more but the kidnapping from the brother towards the end was pretty good. I would advise people to read the book just to put an end to the series.Product details

Scorched Surrender Book 4 edition by Melody Anne Trevino Creative Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I am actually writing the review on this book before I do the others. When I read some of the reviews from the first book I almost didn't read any of them, but my love Melody Anne's writing made me want to; so I read the first one and had to continue through the series. It has only taken me 3 days to get through all of 4 of the books in this series, even though I had to take a break and read another book as a beta reader. I put this book to the side to read the other book but came right back when I finished it.
This was a perfect last book of the series, I am sad to have put this series down now. I really wish there were some characters to continue it with. I totally fell in love with Rafe, Shane, and Adiane while reading these books, though many, many times I would have gladly throttled both Rare and Adriane. Air, Lia and Rachel were perfect for these men. I will admit Lia frustrated me almost as much as Adriane. It was nothing certain to see Adriane come to senses much faster then Rafe and Lia did. I highly recommend reading the series in correct order they will make much more sense if you do. I am usually not a fan of books that you really need to read the whole series to get the whole story but this series made me a fan of this series at least.
This final brings everything together so nicely. Take a confident, controlling Prince/King and mix it with the youngest sister and almost spoiled young woman and you get fireworks. Would the idea of becoming the queen of any country much less one you have never been intimidate you? Add to that the king wants to marry you not because he loves you but considers it his duty and you have Rachel's dilemma.
We also get to see how Race and Ari's relationship continues and see if Lia can put aside her mistrust and fear to build a life with Shane.
As usual Melody Anne adds some intrigue to the story to add some depth. Now that I am done with this book I am reading her newest book in the Lost Anderson's series.
** spoiler alert ** Oh, where do I begin? Adriane practically was Rafe with a royal status the way he thought and everything. And Rachel was Ari; the way she didn't like Adriane at first but the more she saw his kindness the more she fell for him. Not only that, when Adriane realized he loved her, it was too late. Just like when Rafe did with Ari. It was the same story and the author used that twice. Meh.
Anyway, I might just let that slide but I'm going to talk about other things that made me gave this book 2 stars.
On Ari and Rafe's wedding day before the ceremony started, Rafe went to knock on a room to see why Ari and his sisters took so long. His sister answered the door and said they were ready; she told him to went ahead so he wouldn't see Ari before the wedding. I thought that room was one of the rooms in the cathedral, but no. It was in another place. They had to ride in a carriage to take them to the cathedral. What!? How could they make sure that Rafe went ahead of them in time?
It was unbelievable that Rachel was refused to contact her family and Ari still thought it was okay to left her there a week so they could work on their relationship. Just the fact that she didn't contact them at all was enough to raise a red flag!
Knowing that Gianni was out there, I was waiting for the moment when Rachel was kidnapped. I wasn't even surprised when it happened. What the guards should do was went with Rachel at some distant, not just let her walked down the beach by her side. The woman was carrying the king's children for crying out loud! It was so funny that the first thing Nico should do was tell Adirane immediately that Rachel was kidnapped, not just telling him that there was something he should know. I guess it was for Adriane to dwell in his thought so he could realize at the moment that he loved her. The way Nico told that the guard saw Rachel was taken away and made eye contact with Gianni was so comical I couldn't help to laugh.
I wasn't surprised that Gianni could sneak in the palace property and hauled Rachel into a boat because the palace had a very lousy security. Judging from the way Rafe could barge into the palace and even at a restaurant where the king dined with Rachel. Rafe shouldn't be able to move past the king's guards.
At the place where Gianni hid Rachel, he threatened her to tell him about Adriane. At the last attempt, he tossed Rachel outside to face the cold weather. In this scene, it was described that the door was opened twice. I was so confused that didn't she was already outside?
The rescue was even more laughable. Shane went in alone without any back up? The guy was in a military he should have known better than attempting something stupid and ruthless. Didn't he have his friends? He could call in some help. And the meeting point, there was no one there! If they were, Gianni wouldn't be able to sneak in. For a king like Adriane and a powerful man like Rafe, they seemed to lack of people. What kind of a king went into that situation without any backup? He supposed to have his men surrounding the area before attempting the rescue. It was unbelievable.
Gianni told Rachel that he needed to act like a mourning brother came back to the country after his brother tragic's dead. Are you kidding me? He was the one who took her away under eye witness!! Did he seriously thought people would believe him?!
Lia and Ari was left in a hotel so Rafe and Adriane went to rescue Rachel. Just in case, Rafe gave Ari a gun for some protection. OMG. Adriane was a king! Couldn't he left any guards with them!? It was like it intent that way so Lia and Ari could stupidly go after them and shot Gianni and being the hero. There were so many things wrong about that. When did Lia learn to shoot? Not to mention, she killed a man with one shot on the first attempt. It was beyond believable I couldn't let them slide.
What was it with this story when a person brought an injured patient to the hospital, they were immediately being the first suspect. Like when Shane brought Lia in after she was drugged, he became a suspect. When Rafe and Adriane brought Shane in after he was shot, they were the suspect.
Considering that Adriane's parents loved each other. He shouldn't come out like he was. I understand that Rafe was like that because he was betrayed once and he tried to protect himself. But Adriane was different. There was no explanation why would he thought that love wasn't necessary in marriage.
Lia and Ari got pregnant at the same time! Three couples got all of it at the very same moment. Oh, give me a break! I always like HAE, but this was too much.
Seriously, the author had potential to make an unputdownable story because it took me this far. I just hope she took some times thinking clearly over some things that would make the story more realistic. She should have focused on a couple by a couple. Though, I admit that if it was a standalone I would stop reading at the first book because Lia and Shane hadn't appeal me at all.
The dialogue was sappy and not what real people would say at all, had me rolling my eyes in disbelief. The constant back and forth of pondering things for pages before giving an answer to a question or a response to a statement left me not remembering what the damn question or statement was in the first damn place. I constantly had to go back to figure out what the response was in regards to so... I GAVE UP TRYING and just skipped through to just reading the dialogue between Rachel and Ian or LIa with Shane. Melody Anne you disappointed me this time. Why? Even the ending was sappy and unreal. Just would not ever happen in real life. Your other three books were great Melody Anne... what happened to you??? I AM Sooo SAD... and MAD...
